Notes

This pattern is a base for you to work from in designing a beautiful stranded-color toque. Assign colors A, B, and C of your choosing to colors 1, 2, and 3 in the patterns provided and change color assignment and patterns freely from one row repeat to the next.

If you're knitting a size Adult S or Adult L toque and choose to use only two-color patterns with one color as the main color, you might need two skeins of the main color to complete your toque.

You can use Charts A, B, or C from the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Cowl as well.

If you’ve worked color stranding in the past, you will have learned that twisting the strands behind the work (the floats) is to be avoided. The Latvian braid is designed to twist the yarn in front of the work first in one direction on Rnds 15, 22, 29, and 36 of the Sample 4 chart, then untwist the yarn on Rnds 16, 23, 30, and 37.
